Media is one of the factors that affects the changes in people’s lifestyle. A lot of people were deteriorated in using mediums that are supposed to acquaint us with the issues and raging news in our society. That is why one must aim to develop his or her lifestyle by using the media properly. There are different types of media: the traditional media, broadcast media and the new media. All of these carry messages that reaches the society with information that is within the interest of the people. Newspaper, book, magazine and any other written medium are the traditional media. This is for bookworms out there who loves the smell of letters printed on a paper. In using traditional media, one must have a liesure time as a schedule to read, for the process in getting informations in this media is to understand what you are reading and absorb it. Next is the broadcast media, are television, radio and any other media that uses airwaves as signals. An individual must discipline one self to prevent from turning into a couch potato. Lastly, the famous media that this generation is using is the social media that belongs in the new media category. One must have self control in using this for it is addicting and once you are seated on a comfortable place and you started scrolling, you’ll have no idea when to stop. Well, unless something urgent will kick you back to your senses. The perfect media lifestyle can’t be achieve if you, yourself is using media the wrong way and it always starts through self discipline.
Media and information literacy is a very good subject to learn especially for us living in a 21st century. This subject teaches us how to use the correct technology, how to be an information and media literate. It helps us to use the correct technology, when we want to communicate with our relatives and friends we already know what technology to use. It helps us to be an information literate like for example when there is a needed information, we can eaily locate, evaluate and choose the most effective sources. Lastly it helps us to be media literate for the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms.
Values that are conducted by the widespread society must be moral. But there are people who lacks in practicing good values that causes social issues to occur. Half of our time revolves in using media especially the social media. So most of our personalities and most of the conducts that we show reflects and are displayed in the social media community with the informations we give and we get. This immoral acts produces social issues. Here are some of the issues involve in media and information literacy: Fake news, when someone spreads information that is not official. One of the most famous social issue is cyber bullying that takes place in the internet where a group of person or an individual threatens, blackmails or makes fun of someone who is powerless and has no chance of fighting back. This issue is one of the worst case in the field of social media, the child pornography. It is an illegal business where young children are forced to show their private parts in the exchanged of money. Most of their costumers are foreigners. Eventhough social media gives us lots of information and makes our life easier, still it is one of the most dangerous place for ourselves to be engage.
Our journey in our subject, media and information literacy is one of the best journey to tell. This journey lets us experience having fun while learning. It has an active atmosphere because of the way our teacher teaches us. His overflowing energy of activeness is contagious. He’s doing his best for us to learn every topic that he discusses. He also gives us more activity for us to participate in his class. It gives us a lot of knowledge because today in our daily lives as our generation evolves, our technology also develops. This subject teaches us to be a media, information and technology literate. In this subject also our teacher teaches us how to pronounce word correctly, he always gives as tongue twisters for us to practice on how to properly say mispronounced words. He always have oral recitation for him to test us if we really learned. That is our journey in the subject media and information literacy.
